Summit College Club/AAUW Programs 2020-2021

August 18, 2020:  Suffragists Speak: The Fierce and Flawed Battle for the Vote.  7:30pm Virtual performance by members of AAUW-NJ-Northern Monmouth County Branch, the League of Women Voters, Monmouth County, and the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center.

August 25, 2020:  Virtual Panel Discussion about the film Iron Jawed Angels, which dramatizes the experiences of Alice Paul and fellow suffragists.  Watch the film ahead of time at home at your convenience. Jointly sponsored by Summit College Club and The Film Society of Summit.

August 26, 2020:  100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, NJ Women Vote will host a virtual Women’s Equality Day eventBuilding on our Past to Pave our Future, a panel of women in NJ state government celebrating how women have shaped our state’s past, present, and future. 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

August 26, 2020:  Perfect 36, the Musical, virtual presentation of a contemporary interpretation of the passage of the 19th Amendment.

September 12, 2020:  Virtual Fall Opening.  Presentation on Key2Success by member Jee-Hoon Krska with Newark students playing piano.

October 2020: Dodge Poetry Festival, a world class literary experience.  For a fee, watch and listen to the poets and the music from the comfort of your home.

November 8, 2020: Virtual Celebration of 100th Anniversary of founding of Summit College Club.  Raise a glass and celebrate our past with a long-time member’s story, and our future as we hear the ideas of a new young member. Look for the 100th anniversary issue of our Summit College Club Bulletin.

January 2021: John Lewis Documentary.
